Resumen del proyecto
CS supplied Airfoil Solar Shading (Brise Soleil) to Lida Vets in Newmarket. Solar shading was required to reduce glare and solar heat gain in a glass conservatory waiting room area.
Caso de estudio completo
Lida vets is an independent veterinary practice dedicated purely to small animals aiming to bring a fresh approach, high-end and affordable healthcare to small animals in need.
Due to their success Lida vets recently extended and renovated their veterinary practice to enable them to serve more clients.
Objetivos de diseño
As part of the extension to the veterinary practice, a large glass, conservatory style waiting area was designed offering a modern, and fresh visual to the facility.
However, being glass, there was the risk of sun glare and heat gain within the waiting room. Lida vets wanted a comfortably cool waiting area for their patients and their owners to sit, so a passive solar shading system was required. One that would fit in with the aesthetic of the new extension, and that would offer enough shading without compromising the amount of daylight let into the room. They chose CS Airfoil.
CS designed a custom solution to reduce the heat gain and glare within the waiting room, one that would fit with the aesthetic of the building and the client’s budget. The solar shading solution incorporates blades across the top glass facade as well as a cantilevered canopy for shading the lower portions of the building.
Due to the length of the cantilevered canopy, and the weight of the blades, CS also designed a set of bespoke support struts to hold it securely in place without compromising the building’s aesthetic.
Now the veterinary surgery has a comfortable, naturally lit waiting room, without the concern of solar heat gain.
